Dear all,
I am pleased to announce that the ODF Toolkit 0.13.0 has been released.
This version runs on JDK 11 and offers support for ODF 1.2.
Right after the release, I have updated the baseline to JDK 17 and enabled
the Apache Jena library (version 5.6.0). A first 0.14.0-SNAPSHOT release
has been uploaded and is available for testing.
I also hope to meet with some of you at FOSDEM at the end of next week!
Best regards,
Svante

Dear all,
as discussed in https://github.com/tdf/odftoolkit/issues/425
The upcoming *ODF Toolkit 0.13.0* release is now ready for review till
Friday noon.
*Release timeline*
The release candidate is available as the default branch of my fork.
If no blocking issues are reported by next Friday at noon, I plan to
publish the official release on Friday afternoon.
*Java requirements and roadmap*
Version 0.13.0 introduces a JDK 11 build and runtime dependency.
Immediately afterwards, we plan a 0.14.0 release that will raise the Java
requirement to JDK 17, enabling the use of Apache Jena 5.
This plan has been discussed with Michael Stahl, Oliver Rau, and Axel
Howitz.
On that note, Axel joined the ODF Toolkit last year and has now received
commit rights — congratulations and welcome again, Axel!
*Snapshot release*
I have also uploaded a snapshot version with the upcoming functionality:
0.13.0-SNAPSHOT.
This can be used for early testing of the new features.
*Review location*
For review purposes, I created the following fork, which contains
everything planned for 0.13.0:
https://github.com/svanteschubert/odftoolkit
using the branch release-candidate-0.13.0-clean as the default branch (I
cleaned it via interactive rebase).
*Build and test status*
I have tested the release with:
-
Windows 10 + Oracle JDK 11
-
macOS (M3) using OpenJDK 11 and OpenJDK 25
The JARs and JavaDoc were built on macOS using OpenJDK 11.
The GitHub release artefacts are built automatically on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
using Temurin JDK, via our deployment action that uploads every tag
matching v*.*.*.
For reference, see this test upload:
https://github.com/svanteschubert/odftoolkit/releases/tag/v0.12.01
*Documentation*
Documentation has been updated for the 0.13.0 release and is included in
the fork.
In particular, the Wiki (in-spe) is available for review here:
https://svanteschubert.github.io/odftoolkit/
Please note:
-
Maven artefacts have not yet been published (planned for Friday
afternoon)
-
Documentation is not yet available on odftoolkit.org (Michael will
hopefully volunteer, as he has access to that server) :-)
These currently broken links are expected at this stage.
*Outlook towards 1.0.0*
Around FOSDEM, I aim to fix or publish the remaining blocking issues in
the code generation in order to create a release candidate for version
1.0.0.
Feedback is very welcome — thanks in advance for your review.
Best regards,
Svante
