I have discussed this with Michael and we fully agree with your
observations to make this method public.
As well as a contributor of the first hour we provided you developer
access, David.
Just push the change and provide the URL of this thread within the commit
message.

Thanks for your help, David and sorry for the belayed response, I thought I
already answered your question - obviously I forgot.
